RULES OF GOLF SEMINARS

2010 SCHEDULE BEGINS!

Based upon a successful pilot program in 2009, the Rules & Competition Committee in conjunction with Association Staff will conduct a series of Rules of Golf Seminars in 2010.  Rules & Competition Committee Chair Jim Gonzales will lead the effort.  They are geared for novices, experts and all points in between.  All are welcome.

The curriculum is organized to emphasize interactivity, camaraderie, and broad themes at the expense of dryness, mechanism, and scholasticism -- a little less explication of how many Angels can dance on the head of a pin and a little more practical instruction on how to approach the most common Rules situations.  And for those who aspire to officiate at the club or association level, a little practical instruction as to how to actually perform the duties of a Rules Official.

The seminars will be in the classroom as well as in the field for those who have been through at least one classroom experience.

August 20 - 1pm At the PLGA offices in Buena Park

On-Course Seminar TBD!

REGISTER by clicking on the following E-mail address and providing your name, simple contact information and club affiliation (optional):  lcloud@covad.net

You can also register by phoning the PLGA office during business hours at  (714) 994-4747 or (800) 272-7542.  As space is limited, registration is required.

Check the PLGA website at www.plga.org for information regarding the remaining schedule of seminars, including the on-course sessions.  In an effort to reach as many interested golfers as possible, the Association will move both the classroom and the on-course sessions around the region as much as feasible.

PLGA Certification in the Rules of Golf is available for those who'd like to continue their education.

Whenever anyone in the association wants to be certified, they will be sent a 100 question test.  They have a week to return it to us.  If they make the minimum passing grade of 85%, then they are eligible to take the 50 question proctored test.  They must arrange through the office the date and time to take the 50 question test.  The 50 question test is timed and is closed book and will be monitored by staff.  If they make the passing grade of 85% on that test, they will be certified as a PLGA Rules Official.

The next seminar is scheduled for:
